Description:

The nuclear shelter of the Ministry of General Affairs (and the Prime Minister) was built between 1970 and 1975 in The Hague under the Ministry of Finance. It could accomodate up to 150 staff for two weeks. Only the Prime Minister had a small private room which doubled as a TV studio for national broadcasts.

It was one of a few ministerial shelters with a floating floor to absorb the shock wave from a nuclear explosion. It is not the best preserved ministerial shelter, but it is considerd the most important example.

Valuation of authenticity and integrity:

Baseline 1997. The facilities are partly dismantled and stripped. Future use as a monument/museum is under consideration.
